HITHER AND THITHER!!

Hmmmmmmm!

Ever have those days when your thoughts end up going hither and thither? You know, "here and there, as I've been wandering about". Except in this case, "as I'm "wondering" about."

I wonder:

  • Will it ever rain again? How is it that there is drought in one part of the country and flooding in another part? Crazy!

  • How many people's password on the computer is "password?"

  • Is there such a thing as phobaphobia - the fear of acquiring a phobia?

  • What does it mean for us to live in a post-Christian society?

  • What the future holds for my grandkids in light of the previous question?

  • If we realize the importance of "passin the faith along?"

  • If the fear of failure immobilizes us?

  • If the devil's desire is to scare the heaven out of us?

  • How much energy we spend seeking God versus what Mark Batteron calls the "uncertainty principle" - you can't never always sometimes tell!

  • If the church should spend more time playing offense than defense?

  • If the church transforms culture or culture transforms the church?

  • If normal really is nothing more than a setting on the dryer?

  • If we should take God more seriously and take ourselves less seriously?

WHAT SAY YOU?

Hmm, I wonder..., why did they name it wonder bread? And, does bread ever get accused of loafing?

If the church had spent more time playing offense then defense would we be living in a post-Christian society?

[2nd attempt] For my first attempt at a comment, the match string was “contato”. That must be an all-male choir performing a themed series of songs in Spanish!

Oh, my! 2 Timothy 3:1-5! Read any newspaper and check each adjective Paul writes to describe the human heart condition of the last days. Check each article that illustrates at least one of them. Is there much left unchecked? Sadly, no.

I point to Europe to see a post-Christian society. They have mostly moved into the basement and are pumping raw sewage into their society and claiming it is good. The United States is split between the first and second floors, and moving downstairs. Europe has replaced God with Government, starting way back with the infamous French Revolution. “Government gimme money!” “Government gimme a house!” “Government gimme lots of paid time off work!” “Government gimme really early retirement!” I see a possible and terrible irony in that Islam might “save” Europe from total societal degeneracy, but that’s not saying much!

What have we done in America? Far too much running and hiding from a few pesky buzzing “mosquitoes”. Polls say that 80% of Americans believe in God and the Ten Commandments. Where’s Jesus? (Hint: He did not move!)
