THOUGHTS (or something like that)!

Yes, indeed! This is me after a crazy Tuesday. Just getting home tonight and thinking about what to write. Not too sure. We'll see what transpires..........................

A funeral yesterday. A funeral tomorrow. Praise the Lord for eternal life by virtue of faith in Christ!

Speaking of the funeral yesterday, you Leoti folks caught my emotions off guard. Nothing like driving 275 miles so I could cry in front of you all.

The elk has finally found its home in our freezer. Now to serve it for our open house on Saturday (wink, wink).

It's funny how many people read this here blog. You must have too much time on your hands.

This Sunday will be the big Christmas Sunday! You don't think I'll be stoked?

I live right next to Wichita and all the stores but would rather just get on the internet and order stuff and be done with it.

My Grandson Owen pulled down the Christmas tree, lined up all the gold ornament balls, and proceeded to smack them around the house with a plastic golf club. How funny is that?

How about a sermon series focusing on country song titles? (Achy breaky heart, Ring of Fire, Lookin for love in all the wrong places, Giddy up go, Paper Roses, Heaven's just a sin away, etc...) That series could last all year.

I still like cherry pie (In case you were wondering).

Someone needs to give Kevin Clark spell check for his computer. It would behoove him to at least spell the words correctly if he is going to pontificate or bloviate.

Hints for a present for Mary Lou??? Shhh... don't tell her.

God is still doing His thing! Aren't you glad??

If you haven't ordered ML's present on the internet yet, you may be in trouble! You may have to go to one of those stores in Wichita that sell the shiny, expensive things for her finger, neck, and ears. Funny story about Owen. If it had happened at my house, I don't know if I would have thought it was so funny.

No monkey business on this blog, its JUST a crazy time of year. Eternal life by virtue of faith in Christ, is there anything better than that to look forward to.
It's okay to cry.
Elk jerky sounds good, can you mail that if I don't make the open house.
And you were thinking of stopping the blog.
Funny I thought you were always stoked.
Shopping stinks at the store or online. But I do like the main streets with mom and pop stores and Christmas music in the background.
No comment on Owen. Zimmy will be there next year.
Country song titles would get some attention.
No one was wondering about the cherry pie, are you begging?
Spell check or a dictionary? I'm not even going to look those words up.
I don't know about a hint for ML but it better be good for what she puts up with. (You know that was said in love)
Yes I am very glad.
So sorry we missed you and ML while you where in town. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas.

Don't forget "Jesus Take the Wheel" and "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer". Love to see what you could preach to those titles. Owen is amazing. Many more memories to come. Start a book!

Don't try to be such a tough guy. We in the family were very touched that the moment had that sort of impact on you. Thanks for being there. I'm sure she is still smiling to think Rick Just showed up at her funeral. Made her day!

Thank you for hosting the open house. I advised my brother and a friend, both of whom hunt, that if they have a party at their house and want the guests to eat lots of cookies, to not serve wild game! (The elk meatballs were delicious!)

I am finding many people who do not know that when the bison/buffalo were eradicated from the Plains in the 1870s, that the natural predators died or left. Wolves, mountain lions and black bear were fairly common in Kansas. We even had a few members of the 'Griz' family. Humans have replaced them as the top predators. Now our main choices are:
1) hunting to manage the game population,
2) higher insurance premiums, demolished vehicles and personal injuries to manage the game population,
3) disease to manage the game population,
4) a decades-long program to re-introduce predators, but then everyone will have to keep the kids close to the cabin and have a big gun handy in case a wolf, lion or bear comes to "visit".
(I hope this does not create a firestorm of debate).

Yes, Mary Lou deserves a nice Christmas gift.

A sermon series using country music songs? Interesting, though I know you would be careful to not over do it. Why do I suspect "Rocky Mountain High" might appear in that series somewhere? (wink! wink) My late father told me that the pulpit panned the old Western classic "Ghost Riders" hard, but it does have a good message about the price of Sin. The problem was/is that Satan is portrayed as the boss of Hell, while the bible tells us he will be an inmate at the "Flaming Lake Ranch".
